L'Occitane en Provence

L'OCCITANE, A JOURNEY THAT STARTS IN PROVENCE

Founded in Provence in 1976, it all began in the markets of Provence. With nothing but an alembic, a small truck and a solid knowledge of plants, a 23-year-old named Olivier Baussan began distilling rosemary essential oil to sell locally. He expanded his production from oils to soaps to creams, taking inspiration from the land he grew up on to bring natural beauty to homes across the world.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

At L'OCCITANE, we show off the very best Provence has to offer, for a glowing beauty that's unique. Every day, we commit to preserving the breathtaking natural environment that never ceases to amaze.

PUSHING OUR BOUNDARIES THROUGH RESEARCH

The observation of nature guides our research, which is key for developing effective natural cosmetics. L'OCCITANE invests heavily in research - we have our own state-of-the-art research lab in the heart of Haute-Provence, in Manosque. A team of 100 researchers works in 11 laboratories, focused on topics from molecular biology to plant extraction to analytical chemistry so we can keep raising the bar.

OUR VALUES TOUCHING LIVES AROUND THE WORLD

Our global community is king, and we try to give back through our L’Occitane Foundation, founded in 2006. Our two main initiatives support visual impairment around the world, and economic support for the women in Burkino Faso who produce our Shea Butter. L’Occitane is proud to support UNICEF’s International Vitamin A Supplementation Programme through its charity soap, helping fight avoidable blindness in children. L’Occitane were one of the first brands to label their products in Braille, ensuring the accessibility of our products to the blind and the visually impaired.
